Clinical Experience in Counselling, Psychotherapy
I have fifteen years experience of working directly with clients who are dealing with a whole range of personal issues, which have usually been precipitated by life crisis. My psychotherapy work follows a career in business and general management. My work in a volunteer capacity has covered community work, education, court work, and dealing directly with individuals in befriending relationships who are faced with death and severe illness. I now work together with clients to look at issues which dominate to see what patterns emerge and to identify the themes and processes which are crippling their lives. From the relationship that develops between us we create the opportunity to find some healing and a possible solution to the presenting issues.
How I Work as an Integrative Psychotherapist
I attempt to create with a client an environment of trust and confidentiality within which we can look at whatever issues the client may wish to bring. Without a connection and relationship we do not have the basis to work. However until we make a connection it is impossible to really say if there is sufficient connection to make a commitment to the work. I use many approaches depending on the material and the client and and we take one step at a time to gradually open up the material. I trust the client's inner world to dictate what we work on and at what rate, but believe that this will guide us to achieve transformation and change. The biggest step is that to step into therapy to do some work and I make a commitment to stay with the client to help hold the material while we together find possible ways through and possible solutions.
Clinical Training in Counselling, Psychotherapy
I have a lifetime of trainings which contribute to the way I work:
